What we Believe

At Antioch Bible Baptist Church, we are pointing people to God and His Word.

1. Inspiration of Scripture:
The complete written revelation of God is the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible; the center of true Christian unity; that those books were God-breathed through holy men of old, resulting in their verbal and plenary inspiration in the original manuscripts; that these books are therefore infallible and inerrant; and that God has preserved His Word without error through the centuries as the supreme, literal, and authoritative standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be judged. We believe that the King James Bible is the word of God and it shall be used in all church services and Bible studies conducted in English. II Timothy 3:16-17: II Peter 1:20-21.

2. The Godhead: Trinity
There is one living God, the Infinite Spirit, Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of all things; eternally existing, and revealing Himself in three Persons as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each with distinct personal attributes and functions but without division, perfectly equal in nature, essence, and being. The Father is the sovereign creator and ruler of the universe. Jesus Christ is the redeemer savior and is at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. The Holy Spirit indwells, seals, baptizes, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses to, sanctifies and fills the believers. Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 8:6; 1John 5:8, Romans 8:34.

3. Creation
The Genesis account of creation is a literal historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of God. Man was created by a direct work of God and all men are descended from the historical Adam and Eve, first parents of the entire human race. Genesis 1 & 2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17.

4. Sin
Sin entered the world through Adam and all human beings are now sinners by nature, choice, and action, spiritually dead and incapable of contributing in any way to their salvation. Romans 3:23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:2,3.

5. Salvation
A. Atonement: Jesus Christ made atonement for our sins on the cross of Calvary. Romans 5:11.

B. Repentance: Turning away from sin is essential to salvation. 2 Cor 7:10.

C. Faith: Salvation is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:15, Ephesians 2:8-9.

D. Justification: Justification is through the shed blood of Christ. Romans 5:9,18. E. Regeneration: Salvation results in a new life with a new direction. Titus 3:5. F. Adoption: The believer is a child of God. Eph 1:5.

E. Sanctification: Sanctification is the process of the Holy Spirit working in the believer’s life to carry on to perfection, although not obtained in this life, the work begun in regeneration. Romans 6:13, 1Thes 4:4.

F. Security of the Believer: The believer is eternally secure in Jesus Christ. Ro 8:35-39; I Peter 1:5; I John 5:13; John 3:15-18, 36; John 6:37.

6. Church
A. Nature: Born again believers make up the body of Christ. The purpose of the church is evangelism, teaching, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and discipline. Acts 11:26, Acts 20:28, 1Cor 12:28, Matt 18:17.

B. Ordinances: There are two ordinances administered by the local church:
(1) Baptism by immersion as testimony to a believer’s faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior; and obedience to God.
(2) the Lord’s Table which is a memorial service whereby the bread and cup call to the memory of the believer the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ for our sins. Matt 28:19, I Corinthians 11:17-34.

9. Heaven
Heaven is the place where God dwells and the ultimate abode of the believer. Matt 5:48, John 14:2.

10. Hell
Hell is the final eternal abode for Satan and unbelievers. Luke 13:28,16:23, Revelation 20:14.

11. Eschatology-order of events
The next event is the pre-millennial, pre-tribulation, imminent return of Jesus Christ to rapture the Church which is the body of Christ. Christ will return following the Tribulation to establish a literal one-thousand-year kingdom upon the earth. The final judgment of Satan and those who are lost will follow at the Great White Throne judgment. I Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:1-6; Revelation 5 – 19.

11. Separation
A. Personal: All born again believers should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord. Separation is commanded by God from all religious apostasy (departure from all worldly and sinful practices and associations). Romans 12:1,2; I John 2:15-17.

B. Ecclesiastical: Separation from liberal, apostate churches, missions and organizations that
compromise Biblical principles and disobedience to God’s commands of separation. Galatians 1:6-9.
